Artist's Statement

Jō Baskerville is a contemporary artist based in Atlanta, Georgia. His paintings have been described as elegant, profound, sexy. The works are inspired by fashion, art, and world culture.

He believes art and fashion are one. Fashion Modernism brings elements from the fashion world to the canvas to create these works of art. As seen through the eyes of a dreamer traveling through the history of fashion, he uses the shape and form of shoes and clothing, along with the human figure to tell a story.

A native of Petersburg, Virginia, Jō had and developed a love for art and fashion at an early age. Excelling in art and art history while attending Norfolk State University, Jō received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Fine Art.

Jō's paintings have been seen on an episode of Tyler Perry's House of Payne.
